Born in 1996, tenor Robin Neck can be heard in the current season 24/25 in “Der Spieler” by Sergej Prokofjew at the Staatsoper Stuttgart as well as at the Maifestspiele of Bayerische Staatsoper in the new opera “Matsukaze”.

The upcoming 2025/26 season will take him, among other places, to the Opéra de Lille, where he will appear in the production of L’Écume des jours.

His debut CD MADE IN EUROPE, released in 2024 in collaboration with pianist Doriana Tchakarova on the Hänssler Classic label, received consistently positive reviews (e.g., in Opernglas, Deutschlandfunk, and Münchner Merkur) and was nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award (Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik).

In 23/24 he had his house-debuts at the Ruhrtriennale in Janáček “From a House of the Dead”, in “Rigoletto” (Staatsoper Stuttgart), in “Giuditta” (Theater Ulm) as well as furhter productions at the Landesoper Schleswig-Holstein (“Poor Jonathan” & “Peter Grimes”).

He made his debut in 2022 at the Bavarian State Opera (“Capriccio”, R. Strauss, role of the Servant), at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater (“The Bartered Bride”, B. Smetana, role of Wenzel) and at the Munich Chamber Opera (“Marriage of Figaro”, W. A. Mozart, role of Basilio).

In the 22/23 season he was heard, among others, in the role of Siegfried in “Die Lustigen Nibelungen” by O. Straus and Smetana’s “Die Verkaufte Braut” as ‘Wenzel’ at the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein, and as Cover at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

In 2023 he became a laureate of the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition and Scholarship holder of Deutscher Landesmusikrat.
In 2021 he was awarded the 1st prize of the Lotte-Lehmann-Woche & the city of Perleberg and he was a finalist of the International-Antonín-Dvořák-Competition.

He studied until 2024 at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (HMDK) with Prof. Teru Yoshihara and at the university’s opera school, completing two Master’s degrees in Opera and Concert Singing – the latter with highest distinction.

Engagements in both classical and contemporary opera and operetta already led him, during his studies, to stages such as the Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, and the Württembergische Landesbühne, where he collaborated with renowned directors and choreographers.

Lieder recitals have taken him to various concert venues in Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Karlsruhe, and Stuttgart, where he performed as a soloist with, among others, the Reutlingen Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgarter Choristen, the Ravensburg Symphony Orchestra, and his duo partner Doriana Tchakarova. Concert tours have so far brought him to Moscow, Italy, and Switzerland.

He participated in masterclasses and took regular lessons with David Jones (New York), Prof. Noelle Turner, Prof. Margreet Honig, Laura Aikin, Gaston Rivero and Neil Shicoff among others.

 

At the age of 6 he already sang as a soloist at the Apollo-Theater Stuttgart and at the same time performed at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and shortly afterwards at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. At the age of 11 he won his first 1st price at the germany-wide Jugend-Musiziert-Competition in “classical singing” and was engaged for two CD productions in Paris in the same year. Further 1st national prizes followed, also in the field of “Duo Kunstlied”, after which he gave concerts at Bellevue Palace (Berlin) and Mainau Palace (Lake Constance).
